Today's poem is brought to you by the brilliant suggestion 'Christmas Shoes', from Alder Class, Carr Infant School. Thank you!

Christmas is my Shoes

I get a little bit excited when the family's all invited

but

it doesn't feel like Christmas 'til I'm in my Christmas shoes

I feel cosy by the fire when I listen to the choir

but

it doesn't feel like Christmas 'til I'm in my Christmas shoes

When the tree goes up, it twinkles, and I love snow when it sprinkles

but

it doesn't feel like Christmas 'til I'm in my Christmas shoes

I get a festive tingle when I hear the sleigh bells jingle

but

it doesn't feel like Christmas 'til I'm in my Christmas shoes

On Christmas day it’s fun – there are gifts for everyone

and

NOW it feels like Christmas

'cos I'm in my Christmas shoes!

Today's poem was inspired by 'Brussels Sprouts', suggested by Emma Susan Gemmell. Thank you!

But They're Better for Your Teeth

Last Christmas

just for a giggle

I ate a WHOLE box of Mum’s favourite chocolates

(the ones with the golden wrappers, the ones

which are just about

sprout-sized)

I kept the golden wrappers

I kept the paper cases

I kept the pretty gift box

THEN

I found a bag of sprouts

In the fridge.

It took me all Christmas Eve to wrap them.

It took until New Year's Day for Mum to forgive me.
